Petition to the Governor of California
Dear Governor and Department of Pesticide Regulation,
In March 2017, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt turned back decades of science when he instructed his agency not to move forward with a scheduled decision to end the use of the insecticide chlorpyrifos. US EPA was on track to end the use of this pesticide because of the hazard it poses to children's developing brains.
We are asking you to make sure that California does not turn back, and instead acts to protect our state's children, other Californians and California wildlife.
Please end the use of chlorpyrifos. In addition to the problematic human health impacts of chlorpyrifos, chlorpyrifos is also one of three pesticides identified by the U.S. EPA as being responsible for harming 97% of the 1,782 endangered species (animals and plants) protected under the Endangered Species Act.
For the sake of both people and animals, please take action to ban chlorpyrifos.
